International Advanced Level Chemistry: "Principal Examiner for aday" - how IAL s work

This full day event is designed for new or existing teachers deliveringthe Pearson International Advanced Level Chemistry Specifications.

Session 1 : Writing IAL papers

Delegates look at some "first draft" questions and act asReviser for these questions. As well as suggesting question revisions,delegates consider how to prepare students for different command words inquestions; and how mark schemes relate to questions.

Session 2 : Standardisation

Delegates look at some student answers to recent IAL questions, along withthe initial mark scheme, and see how well the mark scheme works. A goodopportunity to see how mark schemes are developed; and also to look at some"specimen marking" across a range of student abilities.

Session 3 : Awarding

Delegates will follow the process that our senior examiners do whenAwarding a question paper, to gain a real understanding of how grade boundariesare set.

This event counts as 5 hours CPD
